This event will feature a rare demonstration of the "kuchikiri"—an experience that is seldom available. Please note that due to s pace constraints\, the maximum number of participants is set at 30.\n Dre ss code: \;Wearing Kimono is not required\, but please dress appropria tely for a tea room (clothing that covers the knees when seated in seiza\, no bare feet\, and no jeans).\n\n\n\n\n\n【プログラム内容】\n\n\ n 見学ツアー 茶室創設にご尽力いただいた真由美スミ ス先生による、施設と日本庭園の解説ツアー\n 講義・ デモンストレーション 11月の炉開きを翌月に控え、そ の理解を深める「口切」に関する講義、茶壺から新茶 を出すデモンストレーション、壺荘の実演\n 体験会　 壺荘の紐を実際に結ぶ体験ワークショップ\n お茶会（ 風炉）美しい茶室でのお茶会（畳席一席のみ。椅子で の参加も可能です）\n 歓談タイム　美味しい和食弁当 を囲みながらの歓談 \;\n\n\n\nProgram:\n\n\n Guided Tour:&nbs p\;Join Ms. Mayumi Smith\, who played a pivotal role in establishing the t ea room\, for an insightful tour of the facility and its garden.\n Lectur e and Demonstration: \;Deepen your understanding of the "kuchikiri" pr actice—a key element in preparing for the opening of the hearth—with a n enlightening lecture\, a demonstration of taking fresh tea out of the Ch a-Tsubo\, and a live demonstration of \;“Tsubo-Kazari” \;(Cord s tying decoration of Tea Urn).\n Workshop: \;Participate in a hands- on workshop where you can experience tying the cords for \;“Cha-Tsub o” \;tea urn.\n Tea Ceremony (Furo): \;Enjoy a tea ceremony in the elegant tearoom. There will be only one tea seating. If capacity is reached\, participants may be selected by lottery. In the case of high demand\, we may revise the program to accommodate mor e people. Thank you for your understanding. \; Deadline for registrati on is July 31st.\n\nPlease also indicate:\nWhether or not you would like t o participate in carpooling or whether or not you are willing to volunteer .\n\n Cleaning and setting up the JCRC tea room on October 4 (approx. 1.5 hours during the day\; JCRC will handle the garden cleaning\, so no volun teer help is needed there).\n Making Wagashi (Japanese sweets) the day be fore. Bring minimum of six seasonally appropriate wagashi to be used durin g tea ceremony.
