今回のイベントは、エベレット市にございますエベレットコミュニティーカレッジ内の、日本庭園付き茶室Japanese Cultural Resource Center (JCRC) にて行われます。普段なかなか体験できない貴重な口切の実演も含まれています。充実しつつも、和やかなひと時をお楽しみいただける内容となっておりますので、ぜひ奮ってご参加ください。

The event will be held at the Japanese Cultural Resource Center (JCRC), a tea room with a Japanese garden located within Everett Community College. This event will feature a rare demonstration of the “kuchikiri”—an experience that is seldom available. The program promises a fulfilling, yet relaxed time, and we warmly invite you to join us.

• 参加費：30ドル
• 定員：先着約30名　上限に達した場合には抽選となります。上限設定については、スペースや講習の関係で30名程度が可能人数ですのでご了承ください。
• 服装について：着物の着用は必須ではありませんが、茶室にふさわしい服装でお越しください。（正座時に膝が見えない服装をご着用ください。素足とジーンズはご遠慮ください。）

• Fee: $30
• Capacity: Approximately 30 participants. If the maximum number of participants is reached, selection will be made by lottery. Please note that due to space constraints, the maximum number of participants is set at 30.
• Dress code: Wearing Kimono is not required, but please dress appropriately for a tea room (clothing that covers the knees when seated in seiza, no bare feet, and no jeans).

【プログラム内容】

1. 見学ツアー 茶室創設にご尽力いただいた真由美スミス先生による、施設と日本庭園の解説ツアー
2. 講義・デモンストレーション 11月の炉開きを翌月に控え、その理解を深める「口切」に関する講義、茶壺から新茶を出すデモンストレーション、壺荘の実演
3. 体験会　壺荘の紐を実際に結ぶ体験ワークショップ
4. お茶会（風炉）美しい茶室でのお茶会（畳席一席のみ。椅子での参加も可能です）
5. 歓談タイム　美味しい和食弁当を囲みながらの歓談 

Program:

1. Guided Tour: Join Ms. Mayumi Smith, who played a pivotal role in establishing the tea room, for an insightful tour of the facility and its garden.
2. Lecture and Demonstration: Deepen your understanding of the “kuchikiri” practice—a key element in preparing for the opening of the hearth—with an enlightening lecture, a demonstration of taking fresh tea out of the Cha-Tsubo, and a live demonstration of “Tsubo-Kazari” (Cords tying decoration of Tea Urn).
3. Workshop: Participate in a hands-on workshop where you can experience tying the cords for “Cha-Tsubo” tea urn.
4. Tea Ceremony (Furo): Enjoy a tea ceremony in the elegant tearoom. There will be only one tea seating. It will take place on tatami mats, but participation while seated on a chair is also possible.
5. Social Time: Engage in pleasant conversation while sharing delicious Japanese bento.

• 先着順での受付となります。上限に達した場合には抽選、申し込み多数の場合は皆様が参加できるようにプログラムの変更の可能性がございます。あらかじめご了承下さい。締切は7月31日です。

申し込みと同時にカープール希望か否か、ボランティアにご協力いただけるか否かお知らせください。

1. 前日10月4日のJCRC茶室お掃除とセッティング（日中1.5時間程度、庭の掃除はJCRC側でしてくださいますのでボランティアは必要としません）
2. 前日に和菓子作り（最低6個持参）　季節にあった和菓子をお願いします。謝礼あり
3. 当日10月5日カープールドライバー
4. 当日10月5日お茶会でのお役目（主にお運び）
5. 当日の後片づけ

Registration Information:

• Please note that registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. If capacity is reached, participants may be selected by lottery. In the case of high demand, we may revise the program to accommodate more people. Thank you for your understanding.  Deadline for registration is July 31st.

Please also indicate:
Whether or not you would like to participate in carpooling or whether or not you are willing to volunteer.

1. Cleaning and setting up the JCRC tea room on October 4 (approx. 1.5 hours during the day; JCRC will handle the garden cleaning, so no volunteer help is needed there).
2. Making Wagashi (Japanese sweets) the day before. Bring minimum of six seasonally appropriate wagashi to be used during tea ceremony. A modest fee will be provided.
3. Driving for carpooling on the event day, October 5.
4. Assisting with roles during the tea gathering on October 5 (mainly serving).
5. Helping with cleanup after the event.
